The new Great Gatsby movie inspired a new fashion trend and put a big spot light on the glamorous Roaring Twenties.
Drop waist and soft frills are the must have details for the look!
What you will need:
– 1.5 yard to 2 yard of soft light weight crepe or cotton prints
– ¼ yard of netting or lace
– 18” zipper
– 1 package of single folded bias tape
– Matching threads
– Sewing machine and all necessary sewing tools
Size S: Chest 34” to 37”
Waist 28” to 32”
Waist 33” to 37”
Size L: Chest 41” to 42”
Waist 38” to 39”
(You should have a black dot at the corner if you piece them correctly)
Sew darts on front
Finish the armhole and neck line for front and back bodice with the single folded bias tape
Press the bias tape binding to the inside of the bodice. Stitch in place.
The shoulder frill
Stitch the front and back together at the shoulder and side seam
Finish the seam either by zig zag stitch or serging.
Stitch the lower front and back skirt together
Make gathering stitch along the top edge of the skirt
Pull the gathering stitch to create the gathers. Keep pulling until it is the same distance as the bottom of the bodice
Stitch the lower skirt to the bodice top
Stitch the zipper to the center back
Press the zipper opening as in the diagram above.
