Love your pet and make the easiest pet bed.

Yes. You can probably go to Home sense and buy your pet a bed for a small price. BUT it wouldn’t be made with love, your love. Trust me when i tell you that whoever made it in the factory, that person wasn’t thinking of love, but more an escape plan from the factory. This pet bed is easy to make and won’t take up too much of your time. With just this one pattern, some really fun fabric like the one we use from Orban Fabric, you now have the most amazing bed for your fur baby.

Materials you will need:

  • Zipper: 20” for size S, 27” long for size M, 33” long for size L. If needed, your zipper can be longer, and you can cut off the extra.

  • Stuffing - lots of it.

  • Fabric for the cover and cushion

    • Size L - 2.125 yard for 45” and 55” wide fabric

    • Size M - 1.75 yard for 45” and 55” wide fabric

    • Size S - 1.5 yard for 45” and 55” wide fabric

Seam allowance : 1/2”

Step 1: Print your PDF Pattern, and tape the pages together.

Step 2: Cut the main fabric. Cut 2

Step 3: this is optional. If you have a serger, you can go ahead and serge all the edges.

If you don’t have a serger, you can use your zig zag stitch.

However, if you choose to skip this step, it’s ok too. Just a reminder that when you wash the cover, the edges can fray.

Step 4: Get ready to create the opening for the zipper

Measure 1 1/2” from the end, and mark it. Repeat the same on the other side

Make sure you do this on the longer edge.

Step 5: Stitch from the edge to the mark, leaving the middle unstitch.

Step 6: Press the seam open.

Step 7: Pin the zipper in place

Place the zipper under the fabric folded edge. Pin in place.

Step 8: Stitch the zipper

Make sure you use a zipper foot for this step.

Step 9 : Stitch the bed cover, 3 sides. do not stitch the corner.

Step 10: Make the box corner

  • Fold the corner open, line up the two seams. Stitch.

Now we work on the bed cushion.

Step 11: Cut 2 bed cushion fabric

Step 12: Stitch the 4 sides. Make sure you leave an opening on of the sides.

Step 13: Stitch the box corners the same method in diagram 10

Step 14: Turn the bed cushion right side out, and stuff it.

Step 15: Hand stitch the opening close.

I would recommend you use a strong hand sewing thread for this task, and I stitch over the opening twice to make sure its extra secure.

Insert the cushion inside the cover. Give it a good shake and the bed is ready for your fur baby to enjoy!

And you are done!!!
