Simple Beach Cover Up DIY

Whether you’re relaxing by the waves or enjoying a seaside café, a thoughtfully designed beach cover-up tunic will elevate your summer wardrobe with both practicality and style.

What you will need :
Fabric: 55” wide knit. 2 yard. Suggested fabric: one way knit. Remember it is a beach cover up, so avoid heavy thick fabric. Try to aim for fabric that is soft and drape nicely.
Seam allowance : 1/2”
Step 1:Stitch the front and back together
- With the right sides of the fabric facing each other stitch, the shoulder seams together.
- With the right sides of the fabric facing each other stitch, between the two notches on both sides.
Step 2: stitch the front facing and back facing together
- With the right sides of the fabric facing each other, stitch the seam together as shown in diagram.
- Press seam open
Step 3: Attach the facing to the top neck
- With the right sides facing each other, line up the neck edge of the facing and top together , stitch around the neck edge.
- Trim the seam allowance to approximately ¼”.
Step 4: Press the facing toward the wrong side of the tunic. Stitch close to the unfinished edge to hold the facing in place.
Step 5: Hem the armhole and the bottom edge
- Make a little clip where the seam ends at the armhole.
- Then fold the armhole edge twice and stitch close to the edge to hold it in place.
- Repeat the same for the bottom edge
